A. The purpose of Camp Fire USA is to provide through a program of informal education, opportunities for youth to realize their potential and to function effectively as caring, self-directed individuals responsible to themselves and to others: and, as an organization, to seek to improve those conditions in society which affect youth.
To achieve this purpose, Camp Fire USA, working with individuals, communities, and society as a whole, shall encourage: The development and preservation of spiritual and ethical values; the realization of the dignity and worth of each individual; the elimination of human barriers based upon assumptions which prejudge individuals: The practice of responsible citizenship exemplifying the highest standards of a natural resources, and shall provide experiences which: stimulate curiosity and learning: provide renewal and adventure, develop sensitivity skills in human relationships, initiative, self-reliance, a positive self-image and responsible attitudes; encourage an understanding and appreciation of the environment, the development of skills in outdoor living, and the search for and maintenance of optimum health.

A.18 years of age, good character and desire to work with children.

Q. I've heard of Camp Fire Girls, is this the same organization?
A. Yes, it was. In 1975 we became Camp Fire Boys and Girls and in 2000 we became Camp Fire USA. Click History Page.
Q. Are there fundraisers involved?
A. Yes, an Annual Sale and 5K run br/>
Q. What activities are done at your camp?
A. Swimming, boating, fishing, archery, camp crafts, cookouts, nature programs, substance abuse prevention, character education and theme related activities.
Q. Where is your camp?
A. It is at Independence Oaks off Sashabaw Rd. in Clarkston, Michigan
Q. What is financial aid for camp and how do I apply?
A. It is money used to send children from low-income families to one week of camp. Call the Camp Fire USA office for an application.
Q. Can Friends and siblings be in the same group at camp?
A. If they are just one grade apart. Example: one child is in first grade, one child in second grade will be put in first grade group.
Q. What about lunches?
A. Campers are expected to bring a sack lunch everyday except cook-out day. A note will be sent home on Monday telling parents which day their cookout day will be.
Q. What is the Camper/Counselor ratio at your day camp?
A. 10 campers to one counselor and two C.I.T's (counselor-in-training) 8th gr. above |
