Camp Fire USA Teens In Action!
 

 

Teens in Action again is an awesome way to make new friends and have fun, build leadership skills and make a difference in the world!
Teens in Action, Camp Fire USA's teen service-learning program, is based on the idea that teens, like Us, are the key to the future and are making a difference in communities nationwide. Teens in Action empowers teens to speak out and stand up in their communities. The Teens In Action group meets every 2 months and either organizes an event or talks about upcoming events.

 TIA Members have put their plan into action for the 2007-2008 season!!

*Teens met for one day and wrote out get well soon greeting cards to children in the hospital. The Cards were delivered to Troy Beaumont's pediatric unit.

*Teens organized a pop can driveand raised over $350!!! They agreed to contribute to Campership Program to help send a child to Camp Oweki AND donate proceeds to the Pontiac Animal Rescue League. Great job guys!!

  • Past Projects Include

    Planned a Canned Food Drive at Camp Fire Summer Day Camp. Conducted a Community Service Day canned food contest. The Group that brought in the most canned food items received an incentive prize. Food was donated to Food Bank of Oakland County. Over 1000 cans and 900 lbs. of food was collected. Picture attached.

       

    Teens In Action club members helped Angels Place VanElslander Home with fall yard cleanup and renovations. The VE home is home to five men with developmental disabilities. It was donated by Mr and Mrs. Art Van Elslander of Art Van furniture.

       

    Teens In Action members held their own Great American Bake Sale to support the fight to end childhood hunger in America. This is to support Camp Fire USA national youth campaign topic, Hunger and Homeless. Their website is: www.greatamericanbakesale.org

      

    12 TIA Members created a Teen Prevention and Awareness Event: held a informational event and sale to create awareness for local teens and raised money for area Pregnancy Centers.

      

    Organized a Help Homeless Animals Drive. Members organized a pop can drive to raise funds to pay for materials to make toys and treats to donate to Michigan Humane Society. They also adopted a pet for a day and bought a gift for the particular animal at the shelter. With the money they made they were able to make treats for cats and dogs, make toy items for cats and dogs and still make a cash donation of $50 to the Michigan Humane Society (Rochester Hills branch).

       

    TIA group partnered with Oakland University Gamma Phi Beta to host a Career Fair at O.U. There were 14 area business professionals on hand so the students had a better idea of what they want to do in their future and what requirements (Schooling, experience) was necessary for that profession. TIA Advertised to all area meddle schools, high schools and on O.U. s campus. The students were also able to have a guided tour of the O.U. campus by the Gamma Phi Beta sorority members.
